DeepL Voice integration for Zoom

DeepL Voice adds real-time subtitles and multi-language translation to any Zoom Meeting by inviting a lightweight meeting bot that streams audio to DeepL for translation. The meeting transcript and translation are displayed live in a picture-in-picture (PiP) subtitle panel you can position over your Zoom window.

 

Prerequisites

To access DeepL Voice for Zoom, you will need to have the following:

  • Zoom
    Desktop or browser client
  • Zoom account
    Basic, free, or higher
  • Beta access key
    Required once per user to unlock the beta
  • Browser
    Chrome, Edge, or Safari (for the web dashboard)

 

Setup: Add and authorize app

To enable meeting translation, you need to add and authorize the DeepL Voice app in Zoom. 

 

First, your IT admin needs to pre-approve the app before users attempt to install. See guidancehere

Once the app is pre-approved, end-users can follow the guidance below: 

  1. Go to Zoom Marketplace
  2. Search for and select DeepL Voice for Zoom
  3. Click Install
    You will be redirected to Zoom to sign in (if you are not already), and shown permission scopes (meeting:read:meeting:admin, meeting:read:local_archiving_token:admin)
  4. Click Authorize
  5. Enter your beta access key
    1. On first launch you'll see the prompt: Enter Beta Key
    2. Paste they key supplied by our team and click Save
    3. The "New Conference" button is now active

You're now ready to use the service.

 

Meeting translation: Create a live session

With setup complete, you can create a live session for meeting translation from your DeepL account.

  1. Click New conference
  2. Paste the Zoom invite URL of the meeting for which you want voice translation
  3. Get your unique dashboard URL

    You are redirected tohttps://www.deepl.com/voice/c/{id}. Anyone with this link can view the live transcript; no beta key required for viewers

  4. Admit the bot
    The bot (DeepL Voice) will appear in the participant list. Admit it from the waiting room if prompted
  5. Expand PiP subtitles
    Click Open floating window to position the subtitles in the most convenient area (overlay possible)
Use the language selector in the dashboard to switch your spoken language and the target language on the fly.

 

Remove / uninstall app

You can remove the DeepL Voice app at any time. To remove the app from your Zoom apps, follow the guidancehere

FAQ

Do attendees to install the app?

No. Only the host or participant with a valid beta key needs to run the bot; everyone else can view the transcript via the shared URL.

Will the bot always ask to be admitted?

If the meeting has a waiting room enabled, the (co)host must admit the bot. Otherwise it joins automatically.

What will happen once the beta program is concluded

The beta access key prompt will disappear, and any user with a DeepL Voice for Meetings will be able to use it. Installation will be available via Zoom Marketplace.
