Our path to a lower carbon footprint

DeepL is building a greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory to measure emissions across our operations and value chain. By tracking emissions throughout the business and setting future targets, we take meaningful steps to reduce our environmental impact and hold ourselves accountable to those commitments.

Emissions are divided into three categories:

  • Scope 1: Direct emissions from gas and heat used in our offices and data centers
  • Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the electricity we purchase to power our operations, including offices and servers.
  • Scope 3: Indirect emissions across our value chain, including those from suppliers, waste, business travel, and employee commuting.
