Modifying the translation shortcut in DeepL for Windows/Mac
Follow this step-by-step guide
DeepL for Windows/Mac allows you to translate text in any application simply by pressing Ctrl+C/⌘C twice.
If you don’t like this shortcut, or if it’s already in use on your computer, as a DeepL Pro subscriber, you can set your own shortcut.
Modifying the translation shortcut in:
DeepL for Windows
The first part of the shortcut must be Ctrl+C, but, as a DeepL Pro user, you have the option of changing the second element of the shortcut.
You’ll first need to go to the DeepL for Windows settings, and select the second button (“Ctrl+C and then…”) under the heading “DeepL Shortcut.” Next, simultaneously press the keys that you would like to set as the second element in your translation shortcut. This must contain at least one modifier key (Ctrl/Alt/Shift) and one alphanumeric key (character, digit, or spacebar). Finally, press “OK” to save your settings.
Once you have made these changes, all you’ll need to do to translate with DeepL for Windows is select the text, press Ctrl+C, and then the combination you defined.
If you encounter difficulties when creating a new shortcut, it could be due to the following issues:
- The combination is incomplete: You need to select at least one modifier key (e.g. Ctrl or Alt) and an alphanumeric key.
- The combination you selected is already in use by another program on your computer.
